"My name is Justin Reid. I am 41 years old and suffer from FSH Muscular Dystrophy. As a result I am confined to a wheelchair and unable to drive a car or use public transport easily. In 2001, after receiving counselling for depression, I became determined to do something positive with my life. Counselling had helped me so much, it seemed a natural progression for me to become a counsellor myself and use my experience to help others.
Sir Roden Cutler Charities 'Pick Me Up' program came to my rescue when all other transport services had let me down. They provided transport from the Catholic University at Strathfield, where I completed a Graduate Diploma in Counselling, to my home in Kingsford on a regular basis for three years. After hearing a lot of excuses from other transport services it was a real pleasure to deal with SRCC's friendly 'can do' staff. I can't fully express my gratitude but it's certainly true to say I couldn't have done it without them. My heartfelt thanks to Sir Roden Cutler Charities, you really saved my life."
